Kent Checkmates

The Kent Checkmates welcome all players from Kent or with a connection to the county. We play daily matches in the UK and Ireland County Championships (open, under-1300 and under-1600). In the open-rated competition we have recently been crowned 2024 Division 1 Champions. Our U1600 and U1300 teams are currently unbeaten in their respective divisions. We were runners-up in the 2023 County Knockout Cup and are now in the Final of the 2024 Cup (as at November 2024). In 2023 for the first time we also participated - and WON - the European InterRegio Championship Grand Prix, playing against 15 other regionally-based European teams. We have again reached the finals of the 2024 edition of this competition and also an EIRC under-1400 version. We also play friendlies and run occasional internal club tournaments.

Please also be aware that, if using the chess.com App, this does not display club notifications and alerts very well, so please login using the web interface on a regular basis so you don't miss out on match announcements etc. As we are primarily a daily chess club (not rapid or blitz), we ask that prospective players should have played 6 or more daily games (without any time-outs).
