Kent Checkmates

The Kent Checkmates welcome all players from Kent or with a connection to the county. We play daily matches in the UK and Ireland County Championships (open, under-1300 and under-1600). In the 2024 season our open-rated team achieved an incredible double - being crowned 2024 Division 1 Champions and winning the Knockout Cup Final. In the U1600 league our team won Division 3, and in the U1300 competition we won Division 5. Both will therefore be promoted for the 2025 season. In 2023 for the first time we also participated - and WON - the European InterRegio Championship Grand Prix, playing against 15 other regionally-based European teams. We have again reached the finals of the 2024 edition of this competition and also an EIRC under-1400 version. We also play friendlies and run occasional internal club tournaments.
